Description

As promised, I have been trying the menu building feature of Category instead of taxonomy_menu. I found a strange behavior however. Perhaps this is an interaction with another module or the way the older module works that breaks things. That older module is taxonomy_manager.

I created a new vocabulary for categorizing content, called File Type, to deal with things like ODT, ZIP, WAV, etc - all different file formats to allow easier searching for download selection. When I created the vocabulary, I chose to enable menu links as part of the container options. No problem there. But when I did a bulk add of file types (as categories) using taxonomy_manager, when I went back to look at the menu options, it said that menus cannot be enabled for multiple hierarchy containers. But there was only one level of category in that container. I even looked at the created nodes of category type and they only had one parent, the File Type container.

So I created another vocabulary, but this time only added the categories one by one (teeeeedious - bulk add feature request) in the Category screen. This time there was no complaint about the menu parameters, and then the menus show up as desired on my system.

So something is going on between the way the legacy taxonomy_manager fiddles with the categories that breaks the menu feature on the Category module. Thought you should know.

Regards, Bruce
