Inherit nodeaccess permissions in a book

Hello

I am trying to define permissions for the node of a book, and have children pages inherit the same grants. I know there is a Book Access module, however it doesn't play nice with nodeaccess (in that nodeaccess seems to takes priority), and I'd like the ability to specify one node having different rights than the parent (kinda like file permissions in a Windows directory structure...).

Is there any module or patch that anyone has developed? From what I can see, nodeaccess 2.x may have this kind of functionality, but there doesn't seem to be any consensus when it will be available.

Hope this hasn't been addressed before, because I sure as heck couldn't find it :)
