Hi,
I have inherited a Drupal 4.7 site. I understand that to update it from 4.7 to 6 I have to do the intermediate step of upgrading to 5 and then again to 6.
I have just gone through and checked the modules installed. Many of the contributed modules that we are using are no longer supported. I was thinking of creating a fresh Drupal 6 install and somehow importing the content instead of upgrading. This is partly because I want to change the way the site works anyway.
Is this a reasonable approach or should it be avoided at all costs? Opinions and suggestions welcome.
Cheers,
Kimeros.

I tried it and ended up just copying and pasting the old content into the new site. I had less than 100 nodes so it wasn't so bad. My site was heavy in flexinode, though, and that made it more complicated.

I'm considering the same thing. We have more than 5000 nodes. It is impossible to do it manually and like Kimeros said I want to change the way the site works. Anyone can suggest us? Thanks
I am in the same situation.
I am in the same situation. Our site has many nodes and also made extensive use of cck. Not sure how easy of a migration it would be. Any suggestions?
