Have you seen what can be done with the Admin links on the rootcandy theme, impressive and user-friendly like.
I was thinking the same could be done on the Admin menu module, if you added a horizontal submenu section it would be quite nifty, like a dashboard appearance. The only thing is with Admin menu it shows all the items and I'm not sure it would be fesable using the rootcandy setup. Still, it has potential. Sometimes, it's not all just about finding something, appearance sets the mind at ease too :) Admin menu doesn't feel part of the theme where as the rootcandy method makes it fit well sort of like the way wordpress dashboard does it.
I like this method even though not all the links are visible when hovered, it has a nice flow to it.

clemens.tolboomA link to a the project page http://drupal.org/project/rootcandy is way faster :)
My guess this is a 'won't fix' because it contains way more info then Administration menu contains now.

sunA few points here:
1) I'm following the evolution of rootcandy pretty closely (see my comments on the author's blog).
2) Administration menu implements an administrative menu only. Rootcandy, on the other hand, can do more, since it is a theme. That's a fundamental difference. Administration menu _has to work_ on 99% of all themes, including custom ones.

darumaki commentedA couple of things I like about Admin menu is the easy to access clear cache menus and that you have less clicks to get where you want to go. Rootcandy has more of a dashboard feeling very friendly on the eyes.
My thinking is "rootcandy" can better serve users if it was made into an add-on to any theme. The theme itself maybe users won't have a need for. If I don't want to use the theme then how do I get the same dashboard like appearance. There's also control panel module which is good too. I try to see how I can cut down on modules instead of adding more which can effect performance.

sunRootcandy was developed to be a administration theme, so you would still have a different/custom theme for your regular pages.
I don't know whether the maintainer(s) implemented a special condition for the case that admin_menu is installed, which I requested a few times already - so you do not get 2 bars at the top of the window.

sign commented@sun: yes, you can hide the default rootcandy header in theme settings. Has been added quite a long time ago, based on your requests ;)

sunNice!
...which means that this entire issue actually does not exist? Maybe people don't find it, because they don't look at the theme settings?

michelleOoooh, now I can use RC again! Thanks, sign. I had no idea you could hide that header that made DAM go away. I thought I just had to stop using RC until I stumbled on this issue. :)

sign commentedCool,
I have added a message after you enable the theme to visit the settings page in upcoming release, hope it helps ppl to find this setting more easier. :)
