I have upgraded a v5 site to v6 (both latest versions) and paging has stopped working. Every page displays <!--paging_filter--> as the first line. If a page actually has that at the top, it gets displayed twice. I had trouble running upgrade. Paging had a fatal error Call to undefined function: node_update_shutdown. I deselected search, ran update again, and it stopped complaining, then I reactivated search. I get no error reports from status now. The modules I have installed are:

FCKEditor, Meta Tags, Paging, Path Filter, Read More tweak.

All assistance appreciated,
Thanks, Ron.

Title: Displaying <!--paging_filter--> at top of every page » Problem fixed - reason isn't
Component: Code » User interface
Priority: Critical » Normal

I discovered why the filter wasn't going: on the settings/paging page I hadn't put a tick in the little box in the top left corner. That is REALLY obscure. You come to this page and see all these settings and you set them and click save, and you expect it to work. A tiny tick in the corner is more or less invisible, and the expectation is that one ticks the box to select the content type to be edited, NOT to activate that content type! It needs a big bold message saying something like "Check content types for which paging is activated".

Thanks!

I've added some help text to the top of the settings page. This should clarify some things a little. What do you think?
