Are there any plans to port this to drupal 6? This is a module I could really use on my site, but I currently don't have the time to try and port it myself.

investigate the authoring_aliases.module for D6

I looked at authoring_aliases, but unfortunetaly, it only allows an admin to change some usernames to something else. I want to be able, for some content types, to allow the users to choose for theirselves if they want to post this anonymously or not. Guess I'll have to find something else...

doesn't sound like you set the permissions for authoring aliases in adminsiter -> permissions.
