HTML comments dont seem to work when i create content (page). Any know how to fix this? Or a workaround?

Are yo using the appropriate input format filter?

I have just installed Drupal 6.10 and if I put in an html comment like:
"<!-- this should not be visible -->"
It still shows up as the same.
I even tried using the full html input format after unchecking the filters: 'html correcter' and 'html filter'.
Please advise.
