maybe you are familiar with the Rocktheme team for Joomla http://demo.rockettheme.com/?template=akiraka
I was just wondering why drupal theme look so not nice...no offense
is it because of the code of drupal, maybe the drupal community is more code oriented than design oriented?
is it even possible to do advance theme like the one above with drupal?
how come a great tool like drupal lack of amazing thmes I don't understand it
for the roketheme template don't just look the design(which is already amazing) look at the feature (impressive!!!!!)
can make your site with multiple layout with just a click, put a timeline for each template to show automatically and more wow
this is just a discussion I would really want to know your opinion
or is there a website/service that deliver this kind of advanced theme but for drupal? oh whitout costing $2,995 per theme!!!!!!
roketheme you pay your year fee and that it ($50)

Drupal has great themes
I'm not an expert on themes, by any means, however I disagree with your assessment that the Rockettheme for Joomla is better. I find it very clunky, slow and difficult to navigate. From my experience, Drupal's default themes focus on being well organized, easy to navigate and simplistic. Additionally, I find that Drupal makes editing themes and creating new themes much easier than any other platform. Drupal is about customization and code reuse so that you can do things yourself.
Of course, if you like flashy sites with lots of buttons and colors - perhaps you could hire a designer to put together a flashy layout.

>I think so. But I also think that things are gonna change rather quickly. Fame is coming to Drupal so are Webdesigners.

>It is absolutely possible and I speak by experience.

>Il would say because you (actually) mainly use Drupal for project with a budget and when you have a fair amount of money to run a project you get a nice customised design, not a community one. Soon it will be clear to people that Drupal is also able to be used with project without budget.
>>Look how development seed (developmentseed.org) handles webdesign with Drupal and you'll understand what I mean/ These guys rock at webdesign (especially with their webapp Managing News)

Because other CMS themes
Because other CMS themes 'lock' you down to their modules on how to display the fancy items, which make it easier for them to theme, and you are restricted to 'the way' to do thing.
Drupal is harder to theme compare to other CMS with its flexibility in data presentation (the coding part is easy though, IMO). There are 10 different ways to do the same thing. Take user profile as an example, there are the core profile module, just CCK, Content Profile (Bio or Node Profile in D5), Advanced Profile Kit, mixture of views/panels or other ways depending on your need. For themer to fix their target on themeing just one of it or all of it is not ideal. That's just profile, multiple that themeing effort to all kind of nodes, views, panels, etc.
Hence there is either a generic theme or pricey custom made theme.

I won't lie.
Joomla is good but i prefer drupal this community is full of really good people willing to help.
As for themes "bla bla bla"! So what if it's about themes!!! That makes a good cms?
Then i guess i left joomla for their lack of community(social network) oriented sites. a lack of css for theming user profiles, etc.
Which was like a year or 2 ago. Anything and everything you want is here and open source as for joomla charging members for some modules "extensions" as they call it there.
So choose your cms wisely and not just on "THEMES".
Perhaps you should look at the showcase forum thread.
Just look at some of the sites.
Thanks for the insight guys

Drupal is harder to theme, plain and simple.
With all the freedom of Drupal comes some costs, one of those is simply that Drupal is not designer friendly. Most of us designers just aren't php wizards and we require docs that are up to date and correct so we can swindle snippets and fill in the blanks. This just isn't the reality with Drupal. Anything you can do with other CMS you can do with Drupal but considering most of the people in this community appear to be some kind of space alien, robot engineers it isn't surprising that you don't see many high quality designs.
Another thing to consider is that the websites that do have great design don't usually advertise that they use Drupal.
