Recent Stories Block?

Mike@frazierhome.net - October 22, 2003 - 23:09

Hi,

I'm looking for a Recent Stories Block. The way I've laid out my site is that I use Blogs for Blogs, but then I have another type of journal, so I use Stories to do these (When you click on blogs, I don't want the two mixed together). So I'd like to have a Recent Stories Block, similar to the way blogs due this. I'm sure that sites that use Stories for News probably could use the same.

I've poked around and haven't found one yet. Is there one that I just haven't found?

I'm running 4.3.0-RC on my site, so it would have to work with this version or higher (CVS).

Summary.module might be what

Summary.module might be what you're looking for, sort of. But yes, I would like to see a comprehensive "Recent Stories" module. That would be critical to my site. Features should include ability to list different stories under taxonomy terms and maybe something like, if you go to a page with taxonomy term 3, recent stories would show only those under taxonomy term 3.

Summary isn't quite it

Summary seems to do a nice page, but I want a block on the right (or left) column that shows recent stories (I didn't see that Summary can do a block. Just a new type of a page). The idea of tieing it to the taxonomy is a cool idea too (click on a topic, and then "Related Topics" would show up in a block on the side.

Eureka!

Found this under documentation... http://drupal.org/book/view/2498
It lists all of your stories under a taxonomy. But I'd really like to see some explanation on how to make the pager work.

Cool! It works!

Very nice catch! That worked exactly like I wanted (and better than I asked for since I can limit it to specific taxonomy terms and not to a type of node). Thanks for pointing that to me.

Check out http://www.frazierhome.net and the "Weight Loss Blog" block is using this code.

Only downside for me about this is that it lists 15 items, but I can live with that.
