Aggregator/Syndication

I want to present news from other sites. I have enabled the Aggregator Module and listed it in the menu block, where it seems to be working.
I do not want the content of my site to be picked up by other sites yet. How is this prevented?
If I disable the syndication module, will this prevent other aggregators picking up my content?
