Description

Ironic, but this module just doesn't show on Google with the terms: "drupal metadata module" or "drupal metadata".
Anything you could do to improve that...?

There is no way to instruct Google on how to find this project.
Rather than using Google to find the project page, why don't you use Drupal search page?

What I meant is that you could use those phrases on the module's project page in the hope that Google indexes better...

The project page correctly describes the module, and its purpose is not obtain a higher rank on Google.
I don't see any reasons to worry about what Google indexes, as the project can be found through Drupal.

Really?
http://drupal.org/project/modules?text=metadata

I don't mean get a higher rank on Google as some kind of competition -- just so people who need the functionality this module provides can find it!

Did you try searching for "meta tags"? http://drupal.org/search/apachesolr_search/meta%20tags reports most of the issue reports for Meta tags.

The point is that the project page doesn't allow to specify generic tags that would allow the page to be caught easier from people; so far, I have never seen the maintainer of a project add any kind of tags directly in the project page only because there isn't a tags vocabulary set for the project content type.

Yes, I did.
My point is I initially searched for 'metadata' and I think other people will do the same -- it would be helpful to people if that word produced your module.

You're again misunderstanding me: I'm not asking you to add tags to the project page -- just tweak the body text to use the word 'metadata'.
If you don't want users to find your module though, it's your lookout. I'm not going to play status tennis any more.

This seems like a sensible request, because of the historic poor results obtained by using the search on the site many users search using Google.

Surely you'd like more users to find and use your great module?

Drupal modules are hard to find at the best of times.

Adding more keywords to a project page will help users on drupal.org and from outside (Google).

Adding more keywords to a project page will help users on drupal.org and from outside (Google).

As I already said, there isn't a tags vocabulary associated with project content types; being this the case, there is no way to add keywords to a project page.

What reported here is also true for any Drupal third-party modules. I found out about the Views module only because somebody in a forum post made a reference to it; without that reference, I would not have know of Views, if not by browsing the projects list.

If you think that a tags vocabulary would be of any help, please report it on #509056: Create a free tags vocabulary for projects.

Just edit project node body and change this:

Giving more attention to the important keywords and/or description on some of your nodes allows you to get better search engine positioning (given that you really only provide the keywords which exist in the node body itself, and do not try to lie).

to this:

Giving more attention to the important metadata such as keywords and description on some of your nodes allows you to get better search engine positioning (given that you really only provide the keywords which exist in the node body itself, and do not try to lie).

Then Google and Drupal search will see the word 'metadata' and pick it up. That's really all I wanted when I first filed this.

I changed the text shown in the project page, but I am not sure Google (or any search engine) would find the project page more easily.
