Hi

First thanks so much for this amazing module, I'm completely blown away at the features included, especially the video mash up feature!

Just wondering if there's any plan to have the encoded flv files delivered back to the drupal site rather than being hosted off your servers like other video modules (eg open package video)? If this feature was implemented kaltura would definitely be the killer video app for drupal.

Thanks!
Leet

Hi guys,

Glad you like the module.

That request could be achieved in two ways:
1. write your own module that pulls the FLV files from kaltura and store them locally. The streaming however would still be done from kaltura's server.
2. wait a bit for the Kaltura Server CommunityEdition that should be released soon.
The CE gives you the Kaltura Backend capabilities on your own server, so you can work with the Drupal module but with your own snapshot of Kaltura.

I'll update here once the CE is officially released.

@gonen.kaltura
Is the community edition expected to be released in 2009?

Guys, I'm happy to announce a first release of the KalturaCE.
This is an alpha release, but you're welcome to download and try.

The KalturaCE lets you run the Kaltura capabilities on your own server.

KalturaCE alpha 1.0 could be downloaded from http://www.kaltura.org/project/kalturaCE

Kaltura CE version 3.0 is available for download, soon there will be version 4.0 and we're progressing quite fast.
My question to those who requested this feature is, if you have your own Kaltura Server installed next to the Drupal site, why would you require the flv files be kept in drupal too?
