I've spent several hours looking for the answers to this question, so I don't *think* I am covering old ground here but if I am please excuse me (and kindly point me to the answer!)
I've upgraded to 6.9 and I'm trying to get a basic mailing list going with my site. It seems like there are way more modules for 5.x than 6 (which is starting to lead to a little fustration on my part) but I think I can accomplish this with a little nudge in the right direction.
The site I'm building is a replacement for an OLD SCHOOL mailing list (a true listserv) and I'd like to have the same functionality for users that are insistant on getting info that way. I've installed some modules to try and get this going but I'm still having trouble. I've installed (in aproximate order):
simplenews
simplenews register
mailing list
mailhandler
mailman manager
user mailman handler
I've searched for the "Mailman" module and can find several references to it, but no module. I've activated the modules above, and now can see a few new things.
In the modules section of the admin it says that "Mailing List Manager" is incompatible is 6.9. Is there a version that is compatible? Do I even need this module to do this? If not, which folder do I delete from the Modules folder?
The organic groups section has a similar warning. It says that OG2MLM Group, Mailing list manager, and symba are all incompatible with 6.9, so same questions as for above.
In my menu block on the left, now there are three links: "Mailing Lists", "Mailing Lists register", and "Mailing list" (note the lower case l) so at this point I'm not 100% sure which module corresponds to which item, and what each one is doing.
So those are all the details, but back to the original goal: a basic mailing list (like a listserv) with a digest option working under 6.9 is what I'd like. I think I'm close, but need some expert help if possible
