I have an image preset that's just "scale to 510px". I uploaded an image smaller than that, so in theory it shouldn't touch the image. Instead the result is a really weird looking png.

anyone know what could be causing this?

that is pretty odd... which imageapi toolkit are you using? did the image have some transparency in it?

The most recent versions don't seem to be doing it. (same pictures same tool kit) The toolkit was GD, and the image was all transparent except for the body.

Okay I think that was a bug that was fixed in the ImageAPI. Re-open this if you find it doing it regularly. And post a copy of the original image.
