Just tried to install your module (I have og already installed) and following the installation instructions I got as far as step 2:

2) Trigger the forum vocabulary creation routine by visiting admin/forums - this is
the part most often overlooked.

when I go to mysite.com/admin/forums i get a "page not found" ( Is admin/forums a typo?)

Pressing on with the installation all seems to go well (I can see the admin/og/og_forum pages, but when I try to create forum content (as user 1) I get an acces denied page? (I used the RETROACTIVELY UPDATE OLD GROUPS option)

update on point 2) admin/content/forum is the landing page of my forum admin and not admin/forum is this causing the problem?

Do you mean visiting http://mysite.com/admin/forums? Page not found

Yes, visiting http://mysite.com/admin/forums? results in Page not found. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the pathauto settings. I've just done a fresh install of Drupal (did (did not mess with any pathauto settings) and enabled the forum module, it's path is admin/content/forum and not admin/forum (note it's not admin/forum(s)) Is this normal behaviour?

I'm having the same problem like #1 in drupal 6: http://mysite.com/admin/forums or http://mysite.com/admin/forum is a "page not found". What is actually meant by "Trigger the forum vocabulary creation routine"?

I think what is meant is that the vocabulary 'Forums' gets created. I think, despite no notice, that visiting admin/content/forum (not admin/forums which is not a real path) creates vocabulary and sets if for use by the 'Forum topic' content type. You can verify if the vocabulary is created by visiting admin/content/taxonomy and you'll have a Forums vocabulary listed. (This is for Drupal 6, I haven't tried this in Drupal 5).
