gábor hojtsyAll modules are shown with a pager at the bottom. *You* select the ordering criteria at the top right of the page.
misty3 commentedI meant to say when I have not clicked any order criteria - when I am first on the page without doing anything, a list is displayed. If it was a blank page or a random showcase then fine :) but surfers are always shown the same predetermined list. At least that is how it appears to me.
What is the basis of this list ? Can any user kindly explain ?
gábor hojtsy@misty3: I see "Title" selected by default in the ordering block. This did not make you think it orders by title by default?
misty3 commentedHi Thanks !
No it did not till you said :)
Probably some user readability stuff - how the reader thinks he sees, since that "order" block is on the right.
Probably because of this -
while the computer sorts ", # etc first the human eye sees

which is not alphabetical.
If hundreds of other users and would be users are comfortable with this I agree this should not be an issue, else two things can be done -
make a random show case on the first page
or
module title nomenclature should follow an uniform pattern, no #," etc should be allowed to be prefixed.
gábor hojtsyWell, skipping the special characters makes total sense. That would also discourage people from trying to get on the top of the list with using these.
misty3 commentedHi Thanks !!
People can still get on top of list by intelligent use of a, b, c and they can persistently remain more visible.
IMO, best is make a random assort on this page. This gives all modules a fair chance of exposure.
For example, the intro text on this page can be :
Below is a random show case of how you can extend Drupal. You can also view an Alphabetical list of Projects that includes all projects but only their names OR use the block on the RIGHT to view sorted lists with descriptions.
gábor hojtsyThe projects landing page is already designed to look like this: http://drupal.markboultondesign.com/iteration11/download.html so it will feature modules by different criteria, alphabetic listing being only one of them. Let's keep this issue focused on the alphabetic listing issues.

misty3 commentedhi Thanks again.
That page looks like an ocean with so many columns. And misses an Alphabetic listing and this eaxy block - Sort by
Title
Creation date
Last release
Usage statistics
But thats besides the point. Yes, let us make this issue :
module nomenclature can use only a to z as the beginning character only

lotyrin commentedThe page is now sorted by popularity by default. I think the redesign also took care of some of the additional concerns from #8.
