I would like to be able to declare the number of strings to be used in the chord diagrams. This would be useful for 4 or 5 string bass or 7 string guitar. Specifying the tuning would be nice, too. For example, to distinguish a 6 string bass from a 6 string guitar. Supporting alternate tunings for guitar would be nice too.

The number of strings can be defined when you use the CCK field (see the field's settings), but the input filter (what you use to embed diagrams in the body of a node) lets you use however many strings you want.

The current functionality of the guitar module does not deal with tuning at all, it just represents finger positions to which you can add a name. When I add support for tuning I will also add support for alternate tunings, but that won't be in the near future (unless someone wants to write a patch).
