Customisation of node_type headers

Description
Perhaps we should have the option to choose weather or not we want to display the node_type headers. And, if we do want to display them, we should be able to control what they are named. Often, whilst the name of a content type means something to the web developers working on the site, they may not have the same meaning or importance to end users of the site.
