WYSIWYG Editors Not Functioning

peacefulmedia - February 20, 2009 - 23:32

Hello, I'm a new one here, so bear with me!

http://theorcasohana.com is the site I'm working on, using the Color Paper theme on version 6.9.

I've uploaded the WYSIWYG Module and then tried two different "sub modules", TinyMCE and FCKeditor. Neither one functions correctly...or at least, not nearly as well as I'm used to with my Wordpress blog.

First, the TinyMCE...I know a little html, but if I can have Word text editing/input functionality, all the better. Especially since I plan to develop on Drupal for a current client, one who knows nothing about html and therefore has to have this function working properly. TinyMCE is spitting out some buggy looking text. Unordered lists are not behaving the way they should be (like line breaks will be missing although I'm going in and manually inserting them in the Source button). Worst of all, I can't seem to get images to embed in the post.

FCKeditor was horribly off. It somehow spit out a bunch of styles in the content, at the top! Broken code? I don't know...sure looks like it. What's the point, I'm asking myself, of using these html helpers if they are so junky looking and don't function properly?

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get that wonderful Wordpress interface/rich text input functionality in my drupal sites? What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance.

The statistic say that many

The statistic say that many thousands of the people who report their usage

http://drupal.org/project/usage/fckeditor
http://drupal.org/project/usage/tinymce
http://drupal.org/project/usage/wysiwyg

have been using these modules with Drupal 6 (with this order of preference at the moment). So, it is possible. Maybe you could try again, following the instruction in the README files more closely.
