It would be great if the IP posting in a guestbook is logged but only showed to the administrator. Next thing would be to have a "ban-list" so banned IPs cannot post guestbook entries and will be presented with some kind of message.

This would be for the site guestbook, right, and only for anonymous postings? I'll look into it. It would demand a ban table, ban administration and a few other things, so it's not my top priority. (Updating to 4.7 goes first...)

The troll module can handle IP banning, is that sufficient for you? I'm still thinking about logging, though.

It's a lot of work, to find the corresponding IP-Adresses to troll-guestbook-entries and to ban then with the troll-module.
It would be great, if this could be done in the guestbook.

What about a 'ban' link (available to admins) from the guestbook that used troll.module (if present)?

This is a good idea!
