One of the advantages of establishing a basic installation profile for Ubercart is in its potential to serve as the foundation for many other Ubercart installation profiles. As such, if we establish and maintain an include file in this profile that contains the code for setting up various Ubercart components, then other profiles can use this without having to copy/paste the code or roll their own solutions.

This issue is 1.5 years old and with D7 and Drupal Commerce around the corner there won't be any other effort on this issue.
