Hello forumers
I always come to the drupal forums because I always get really nice helpful answers. So, here I am again today :) .... this time my question is not related to drupal, but it is a more to do with other open source software be it PHP or otherwise.

So I was wondering if there was an OpenSource equivalent to FirmPOS (http://www.firmpos.com/nversion4/features_set.asp)?

Thanks in advance.

I have no clue what FirmPOS is (I associated POS with, I suspect, a very different meaning as an acronym) but I would start by looking at OpenSourceCMS.

FirmPOS is an integerated Point of Sales package. It costs a fortune and I don't have enough money for such... so I was wondering if there were similar opensource projects out there? Anyone please. :)

For $1800 you can get Zencart for free and hire someone to help you out.

I can't think of any POS sytems that are open source, just "shoping Carts like these from opensoucecms.com:
OS Commerce
php cart
Zen Cart

You may want to post there if you haven't already. (And I'm sure someone will tell you that MDPro will meet all your needs.*)

Have a look at
a) PHP Point of Sale found at www.phppointofsale.com
b) SQLLedger found at www.sql-ledger.org with POS screenshots at http://www.sql-ledger.org/cgi-bin/nav.pl?page=feature/pos.html&title=POS
c) Mercator found at http://www.globalretailtech.com/ (click on POS menu item on top right hand)

We are busy developing a POS with Drupal as basis. This is however still in planning phase.

Trust this helps!

Point of sale integrated with Drupal would be awesome.

If there are developers and/or sponsors to make it, Ubercart is interested in putting POS in sale in core (they e-mailed Agaric in response to our post at the bottom). We at Agaric are certainly interested in , contact us if this opportunity (a somewhat longterm plan) also interests you.
