As I work for a web development company, I will only have the time to port this to D6 when a D6 project we develop needs this functionality. Until then, if anyone wishes to tackle this, I'll be glad to provide support / instructions.

I'm interesting in porting this module to D6 (or at least giving it a try!), but I have never worked with D5 and therefore don't know what aspects need to be changed to make it compatible with D6. If you can point me in the right direction, I'll see what I can do.

Eazy Edit seems to be an active project that does similar in place editing, although I have not tried it yet. http://drupal.org/project/eazyedit

It's not the same thing, that provide links to the node edit form, not make the node view editable.

Agreed, I'd much rather have the node view editable.
