As per crunchywelch's request, I'm opening a new issue to report that event_validate_form_date() is still broken.

I'm getting a bit frustrated with this bug. As before, I've attached a patch. I'd commit it but I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

i too have this issue - but i am not exactly php-savvy. how do i use this patch - just add it to the end of the event.module file?

well at this point, since the change has been commited, the easist way is to just download a fresh copy the event module.
