Hi,
When i try to create a new rule there are no events available in the dropdown box. Are there supposed to be pre-existing events or can you add events and if so how?
Thanks.

fagoYep, ususally there a lot of events out of the box. Anyone else has this problem? Are you using php4?
problue solutionsNope, PHP Version 5.2.6.
When searching for info on the problem i did come across another user with exactly the same problem.
Should i try removing the module and re-installing? I doubt that will help tho.
fagohm, could you test if the problem persists on a fresh drupal install with just rules enabled? (no other modules..)
problue solutionsMy site has many modules and has been built up over a long time so a fresh drupal install is completely out of the question (as I'm sure it would be for anyone apart from someone just starting to build their site).
It's a shame Rules doesnt work, I've after a very basic functionality....all i want to do is send an email to a specific role when a specific content type is added. The core triggers are very limited and cant do this. Workflow-ng was the other option but it isnt supported in 6.x which is why i installed Rules.
If anyone has any idea of another 6.x module that can do this i'd be most grateful :)

fagoRules does work, at least for me and many other people. If you are not willing to help to get the bug identified and fixed, it won't be.

You could also test this on another site install on another database.

vfama1 commentedRules is working for me; I am doing the exact thing that he's talking about: sending emails to specific roles.
However, my issue is that tokens are not working. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. I re-installed tokens, re-installed Rules so that I have the latest versions of both (just downloaded and tried beta5), I disabled token actions, and it's still not working.
I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong with inserting the tokens? Are there any samples on this? Any special syntax? I'm just dropping the tokens right into the middle of the message-is this correct or should I by using php code?
Thanks.

problue solutionsI'm not meaning to sound critical or anything fago, what i mean is, I'm sure it will work fine on a fresh install...but that isnt going to help me with my paticular combination of modules is it?
problue solutionsare there any other modules that can do this?

I'm not meaning to sound critical either, but the only persons that can identify the combination of modules causing this issue, are those experiencing the problem.
I'm lowering priority as it doesn't seem to be a common problem.
problue solutionsunfortunate (for me) that theres a bug somewhere. For you to be able to identify it would mean me stripping my entire site down and rebuilding it, which i simply can not do...even if i wanted to, but i do understand that it cant be considered a major issue if its an isolated problem.
That being said, does anyone know of another 6.x module that can send emails to certain roles when certain content is added?
fagoClosing old issue, please reopen if the problem persists.
