Introduction to ThruYou.com (Drupal 6)

I'm pleased to announce the launch of a new Drupal site. http://www.thruyou.com

What is ThruYou?

ThruYou is about Grassroots Philanthropy. As a ThruYou member, you create your own "foundation" of personally chosen charities selected from a database of registered charitable organizations. Just as you might create a self-directed investment portfolio of stocks, bonds and mutual funds, you can decide when and how much to donate to each cause in your foundation on an ongoing basis.

What is so special about ThruYou?

There are lots of answers to this question, but three key points come to mind:

• You can earn Donation Credits to add to what you already give
• You can organize all your donations (and tax receipts) in one simple, easy-to-use web space
• You can share your charitable activities with others, especially family and friends

Create a Personal Foundation

A Personal Foundation is your portfolio of chosen causes. Once created, you can make a single donation to your Personal Foundation. Your donation will automatically be split to the causes according to your settings. You receive a single tax receipt for all the donations. Drupal functionality from benevity.org

Track your Donation Credit activity

Donation Credit activity includes both the debits (when you donate your credits to your causes through your Personal Foundation) and credits (when you either earn or buy Donation Credits). Donation tax receipts are also made available. You can make 100's of micro-donations throughout the year, and generate a single tax receipt that tallies all of your donations, to all your causes. Makes tax-time much less of a chore. Drupal functionality from benevity.org.

Search through all of Canada's registered charities

There are over 83,000 of them! All search results come from a web-services API, and are not stored as nodes in Drupal. However, we added the ability to create nodes for any of the charities to feature them and extend their content. Drupal functionality from benevity.org

Create & participate in Giving Circles

Giving Circles are spaces where ThruYou members can rally together around shared causes and see the power of aggregating their donation activities. Each Giving Circle is both a group and a portfolio of causes. Subscribers can post content, and donate to any Giving Circle (resulting in the donation being automatically split to the Circle's chosen charities). Drupal functionality from Views, Organic Groups, CCK, Image Cache, and benevity.org
