Anonymous (not verified) commentedI would also really like this feature for Drupal 6.

kbourne commentedI really wish Drupal sent emails from these posts, I've missed all of them up until now! Seems like there aren't any problems with the 5.x, so I am going to roll that over to release version.
For Drupal 6.x, I was waiting for the simplenews module to go to full release, but I've been waiting for a while. I checked out the code in the new version, definitely incompatible. It looks like the settings page I was using is now on the edit section of each newsletter, rather than broken out as a separate settings tab. Would just take someone to go through and figure out how to set this up to appear on the other page, but I haven't had the time. I'll see what I can do in a couple weeks.

slip commentedI should note that I've never used Simple Contact Checkbox, but this module adds what I understand to be the features of SCC. I hacked up the simplenews_register module because it was already ported to D6 and was well coded. It is very similar to that module, and perhaps the two can be merged.
Also, in response to "I really wish Drupal sent emails from these posts, I've missed all of them up until now":
You may have already found it, but there's a link "Subscribe via e-mail" at http://drupal.org/project/simplecontactcheck and if you click it and submit the form you'll get emails whenever anybody posts or replies to an issue for your project.
