I just got my drupal up and running. The issue I'm having is that it feels like mywebsite looks like a blog site and not a website. How do I configure that look and feel of drupal so my website will look more like a website than a blog site. Of course I want both but at least on many of the front page such as the index.php should look more like website than a portal for blogging. Maybe I was just in a hurry to get my website with drupal working...but I have gone through the admin panel on the drupal and I don't see anything there that will allow me configure so it looks more like a website. I have installed several themes and also configure the blocks but still the site looks like a blog site. Your help is much appreciated.

Link?
Can you provide a link so we can see what you've got so far?
Examples?
Since "Websites" come in all shapes and sizes, is there anything specific you want to implement?

not blog like shaped box:)
I guess you can try examples like "www.theonion.com" which is based on drupal with some extra coding. And you can visit the drupal-showcase section in forums and find some tricks.
I don't know much about the diff between "blog site" and "website" but drupal can well be themed as a "portal" or "cms".

Some ideas
I can understand what you mean, but don't worry there are plenty of ways around that. Drupal is very flexible.
You can make any drupal URL (eg any node etc) the front page in /admin/settings.
You can also use the front_page (add-on) module to make custom non themed (or themed) front pages.
And later on if you want a unique looking site you will probably want to start customising a theme. I recommend PHPTemplate based themes myself.

Thank you so much for all
Thank you so much for all your responses. And yes, www.theonion.com, is exactly what I'm looking for. Any place where I can look to have something like the onion site done? And yes, I'll take a look at the show case. What I have so far is just the default from drupal.
onion
Onion.com's author (well in the means of the author as in french i guess) hanging around the forums sometimes. And I guess the onion.com is the perfect layout for Drupal, I hope in 4.7 or maybe in 5.0:)
