Why cant I create a sub-theme for this?

Hey all,

I was playing around with this theme and wanted to create a sub theme for it.

I created the sub directory (newname) and created a newname.info file in that directory and modified it accordingly but the only way I can get it to work is if I include the node.tpl.php and page.tpl.php files and the style.css file.

When I create a sub theme for Marinelli, I only have to have the .css files that I want to tweak, nothing else.

I am fairly new to creating sub themes so I might be missing something blatantly obvious here but if so, I haven't found it. Anyone have any ideas why this wont work like Marinelli? Is it a different format somehow? Different engine? Different something?

Thanks for any insight you can provide and thanks for a cool theme, this has a lot of potential.
