When I go to http://www.mysite.org/index.php?q=admin/settings/event I get a blank screen.
I would like to change the default view from calendar to list. If there is away to make this happen in the code please let me know.

I dont't know why you got a blank screen. Try
http://www.mysite.org/?q=admin/settings/event/overview
there you should select the list button
