mh86 commentedIt's possible to do that.
Views has a very powerful "Relationships" feature. With this feature you can add a relationship between a content taxonomy field and the taxonomy system. Afterwards you can use any views fields, filters, args and sorts of the taxonomy module. Many people do not know about this, maybe I should point it out somewhere on the project page.
All you need to do is following: create a view, add a new relationship (select the content taxonomy field you want to use). then you can use any taxonomy field, such as "Taxonomy: Term". Add this field and select the relationship to the content taxonomy field (important). Taxonomy: Term is a sortable views field and it will only display value saved by the field from the relationship.
hope that information helps
