Help with Pathauto settings?

Hello folks,

I've been searching for help on setting up pathauto, specifically for setting it up for use with the subdomain module in OG mode.
I didn't manage to find anything, so had a go myself. Anyway to cut a long story short I've got a fresh install now! The subdomain module says: just enter the [subdomain] token at the start of any path you want to be subdomains, so I entered that in the Group nodes and group posts content types. What am I supposed to do with the rest of the content types? Also the taxonomy terms have a default path of category/[vocab-raw]/[catpath-raw] This seems to conflict with other modules ie Advanced Taxonomy browser which want Taxonomy terms in the format taxonomy/terms/%tid.

So as you can see, I'm a bit lost at the moment how to proceed, looking at the pathauto settings page is like reading the starship enterprise instuction manual! Can anybody share their experience of pathauto with me?
