Hi,
I really need such a feature. It must also support token module so you can compose the title like: "Custom string [node_title] etc [nid] etc".

I'm willing to make a patch for this.
Any help is appreciated.

#386530: Option to hide Children tab per node type already permits me to do what i needed (and much more :) ).
But if it is interest maybe I can work something out to make a patch for this too.

This would be a great functionality for Node Hierarchy. I was thinking it could borrow code (or at least inspiration) from the way node.module handles title_label and body_label per content-type, but using tokens would be a much more flexible way to do it.

If there's anything I can do to help, I'd be interested in this feature.
