Jeffrey Dalton Design recently launched RiverNetwork.org and after receiving some solid positive feedback from River Netowork's users on the design, I would like to share a link to the project with the Drupal community. This is a Drupal 6.x Acquia Distribution site with a custom design and theme. This site was built only with the modules included in the Acquia Distribution package and was designed, themed, and built by one developer.
Site features include:
- Custom front page with JCarousel featured news: http://www.rivernetwork.org
- User configurable program mini-landing pages with taxonomy driven sub-navigation
- Job Board built using Views and CCK
- Resource Library for documents, videos, web links, etc.
- All node level content in site is entered using markdown filter. Images & captions, with dynamic layouts are handled by custom theme work easing user content entry
- staff blogs, news, alerts, rss integrated with feedburner, youtube video support, etc.
- Next phase of project will be rolling old marketplace app into an Ubercart store
This was my exploratory project for building in the Acquia distribution (as the project started right before the first release of the Acquia package came out) and I can now clearly say building with a pre-packaged Drupal set makes the upgrade and maintenance process much easier for the end client. I was able to train River Networks web staff in the Drupal maintenance process and confidently hand over the keys. For those of you building Drupal sites or anyone who has tried to upgrade one you know what a benefit this would be.
If you like this site and are interested in more of my work I invite you to visit Jeffrey Dalton Design to see other projects and contact me to discuss your Drupal needs.

Interesting site. I
Interesting site. I particularly like the CSS dropdown menu with JS "fallback" for IE6. Must be about the cleanest/most minimalist drop-down menu I've seen. Is it of your own making?

I started with the code from Acquia Marina's drop down for testing and prototyping the menu but found it was to bulky and I wanted each menu item's visual area to be the active link so I rewrote the css to make it more functional from this perspective making the anchors tags the full menu items. Then added the wrapper divs to make the top level menu rounded "endcaps". Have always thought the main menu system is one of those niche areas in Drupal that still needs attention on each site depending on the site needs...
