Ability to have table like feature?

I am looking to have a field such as "activities" where a user would enter an activity, let's say "Alumni Volleyball Game" then next to it it would have another field titled "Semester" and they could put "Spring 2009" there for instance. So it's kind of like a table where they have multiple values in one row and they can of course add as many rows as they need to list all of there "activities" in this case. I know the Matrix module for CCK kinda does this but doesn't work well for drupal 6 yet. Since this seems like such a basic thing I must be missing something, is there a module or way to do this? THanks!!!
