userpoints_email doesnt work, how can I updated

Hi, all:
I downloaded version 5.x-3 and found that userpoints_email is not working. The users dont get notified when their points reach the threshold i set. Then i thought maybe 5.x-3 is not the right version, then i downloaded 5.x-3-dev. However i didnt quite know how to updated, i just updated this module to the site too and in the administor->modules, the version still said :5.x-3, only 2-3 features said 5.x-3-dev. I run the update file and then i lost all my users'points....
I have been stuck with this for like 2 weeks already my boss is pusing me with this long enough and i still hasnt figured it out. She also wants to be notified when the points are reaching a threshold, but userpoints_admin_email is not working either. The single user email notification is working fine though.
Please help me. I really dont knw why everything else is working except this one:(
