To know how hackers think, you will want a definition of hackers.
Go to http://www.hackerethic.org/ for a book on hackers and their ethics.

I suspect you mean by hackers those who attack other computers, and that this is the reason you ask for ways to stop them. Most people would like to stop hackers in that sense of the word, but no one have the answer for that question.
