Videos not embedding (Full HTML filter enabled)

I've done a good bit of reading on this site and general searches, I'm still having challenges getting embedded video to appear on my pages. I changed the filter to Full HTML, but the tags still show on the page, not the video.
Is there something additional I'm required to do to embed with regular tags?

I thought I could embed with object and embed tags if HTML Full was selected, but still not working.

if you are using any type of editor, ie: FCKeditor or TinyMCE, set it to plain text first.
one could also try the php input format

there are many ways to embed video ...
which way your are using?
are u embedding local avi? or 3rd party video from youtube?
using flash? ...
