Really interesting module and one we are investigating further for use as for our sites user media management. Question on tagging - as free tags are the only vocabulary available to Kaltura media nodes there is an explosion of tags in the site when content is added which we would like to somehow restrict or at least manage better. What options are available?

I would suggest using a separate taxonomy for your media entries if you are concerned about excess terms being added to your existing taxonomies. You could then (for example) update the main site taxonomy based on matches in the Kaltura tag vocab.
