You can test this on the 2.x Livetest... preview the Ubercart Beanie. It results in the following error:

Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /var/www/html/uc2/sites/all/modules/ubercart/uc_product/uc_product.module on line 1424

Here's a patch to fix the symptom. I think the real solution is that uc_product should make an Imagefield formatter to use here for the thumbnails and such.
