I donot see the left side links to login, administer the site. How do i get them back???

You can show/hide the User Login block in /admin/build/block

When the User Login block is hidden, you can login into your site using:

http://example.com/user (if you have clean URLs enabled)

or

http://example.com/?q=user (if you do not)
