OGUR: Mandatory Registration Code Entry

Last updated on
30 April 2025

As of OGUR 6.x-1.5 (also 6.x-1.x-dev), there is now an additional checkbox in OGUR settings in the Allow Group Admins to define Registration Codes for new group subscribers to moderated groups. fieldset:

Require users enter a Registration Code on site signup (user registration)?

You place a check in this box to make entry of registration codes mandatory on your site registration page. This has the end effect of not allowing users to sign up to your site unless they provide a valid group registration code.

For this to work, please make sure:

  • If you have turned Registration Codes on (See: http://drupal.org/node/217229).
  • You have defined registration code(s) for the desired group(s). This is done on the group edit screen.
  • You have given "anonymous" and "authenticated" users the "use registration codes" permissions.
  • You have made the registration code(s) available to the user(s) you wish to be able to sign up to your site.

From the settings page:

If you have checked the box above to allow Group Admins to define "Registration Codes", do you also wish to make entry of Registration Codes mandatory on the "User Register" screen? If you check this box, then no one will be able to sign up to your site unless they have entered a valid Registration Code. You should only check this box if you are sure that every user who signs up to your site will have access to the correct Registration Code to be able to automatically join the correct group. If you are unsure about any of this, do not check this box.

If you are not sure about what this means or how to set up Registration Codes, do DO NOT check this box!
