"Commonly Used" modules means nothing to new users. The description when choosing an install profile should be expanded for new users to Drupal.

At the same time, users think that common modules sound good and use it anyway.
This means that I think, this issue is not much of an issue - more something that could be improved (without abstracting the meaning out of the text)

I also think it would be helpful to an experienced user to list the modules that would be installed. I installed D7 today for the first time and I spent a bit of time looking for a list of these "commonly used" modules. Some modules are more or less universally required, like Views and CCK, and I wouldn't object to having them installed automatically.

Heh, CCK is.
