Hello
I have installed the taxonomy access module 4.6 version [latest stable] and running drupal 4.6.3. I have already used this module in 4.5.2 and so i know what needs to be done for installing and using it. I have tried a lot but its not working. Somebody who have used it in 4.6.3 please help me. I am stuck! Thanx

steps for taxonomy access in 4.6.3
i will assume you have copied the module files, added the database table and enabled the module.
after that follow these steps:
admin/settings/taxonomy_access enable the module (second place)
admin/access/category here you edit each user role
when editing a user role you can modify view, update delete and create for each category, either by term or for the fuill category. You can also set a default, so when new terms are added in the category they automatically take these permissions.
That should do it for you.
Thanx jethrocon for replying
But unfortunately this dosent seem to work for me. I have been using drupal for a long time now and i have followed all procedures perfectly over and over again. hmmm....:(

and did you apply patch for
and did you apply a patch for the taxonomy.module?
No I didnt!
Is it required! But I read somewhere that its not required for the latest version.

HEAD vs. 4.6.x
The patch is not needed for Drupal HEAD. It is still required for 4.6.x.
Inside the taxonomy_access
Inside the taxonomy_access module is a directory for teh 4.5.2 version.
Delete that directory OR move it out of your modules; the 4.5.2 module is the one that Drupal finds and loads. Once you delete that it should start working.

In that case I will need you
In that case I will need you to clarify 'not working'. What specifically doesn't happen?
Does the module not show up at all?
Do the admin pages not show up?
Does the module fail to control access?

Atlast i have been able to find out whats the problem. I had logged in as admin and making the posts in groups where the default view 'public' is checked , which is overriding all the privilages enforced by the taxonomy _access.
Sorry guys if i had wasted ur valuable time. Thanx for ur comments.

That kind of error is
That kind of error is incredibly easy to make with taxonomy access.
I'm glad it's working!

reference material
Thats Ok - it helps us write good reference material
Cheers
make sure you do this too
I had a problem with Taxonomy Access too. It all seemed to be installed correctly, the taxonomy.module was patched etc etc but I never got a "category permissions" tab on administer : access control.
I deleted the 4.5.2 directory from inside the taxonomy_access folder as specified above and yet still the problem remained. I then disabled the module under administer : settings : taxonomy_access, and unticked the module itself in administer : modules.
Then I re-ticked it, and turned it on under settings (ie reversed the two steps above), and finally the module worked.
Hope this helps someone else :)
Jeff
