When I browsed through some themes lately, I've noticed that all links from theme project pages to the outside are marked "nofollow". But not the links from Acquia's pages like http://drupal.org/project/acquia_slate or http://drupal.org/project/acquia_marina.
So, what is the rule behind this special attendance?
A "follow" link from drupal.org would be precious for me, too.
Cheers,
Rainer

I know the technical reason, but not the political one
The technical reason is because someone set the input format on that project node to "Full HTML". That avoids the nofollow on
<a>links. Looking at the body of the project node, there's no particular reason why it needs Full HTML that I can see.I have no answer for the political reason for this. There's certainly no d.o policy for which project nodes can use Full HTML or not, and there's definitely not a d.o policy to give Acquia (or Top Notch Themes) special treatment. It basically boils down to who has sufficient permissions on the site to use the Full HTML filter, I guess. Perhaps we should enforce nofollow on all external links on the site to avoid potentially unfair discrepancies like this. Or at least have some clear guidelines on when it's allowed to use Full HTML (and "i want to avoid the nofollow" shouldn't be one of them). However, it's not really my decision to make.
If you're interested in pursuing this, I'd suggest submitting it as a d.o webmaster issue for better visibility and the chance to track the progress of your proposal.
