Could you say something on your module page about the difference between your module and Aegir?

Looks to me like Aegir is meant to administer one site across multiple servers, not multiple sites on one server.

No, Aegir is meant to manage any number of sites across any number of servers. The 'across any number of servers' is still a little buggy at the moment, but it's getting there.

You could think of Aegir as multisite manager's bigger and much more complicated brother.
