I do not think that that would impact on the translation.
Personally, on my site, I use "sans serif" as the font family, but the actual font should not matter in the translation as its all just unicode for the character is it not? and then the theme layer can specify whatever font it wants to...
As long as the translation is utf-8, that is all that should matter.
Disclaimer - I do not use a "translated" version of the module nor do I know much about translation.
