Webfm images does not resize .gif files

Description
As there is no 6.x version released, I could not correctly report the version as 6.x-2.10-rc4
When attempting to resize an image of .gif type, the operation fails and a message "resize failed to ***filepath and name***.gif " is posted above the filebrowser. Resize fails in both the normal webfm browser and the popup browser.
