password module and user roles

imported all my VB people over no problem. I noticed that it imports the user roles that were defined on VB. I didn't want this, so I deleted the extra roles. Now the password module doesn't seem to work at all.
Before I go chasing something else, are those two things related?

Sorry I didn't notice this issue before. Are you sure the password module was working before you deleted all the roles? They shouldn't be connected, and someone with no roles should still be able to login -- even if they can't do anything.
What happens when a vBulletin user attempts to login?

it's difficult to say now, as my test accounts are converted to drupal. basically as I reacll I could not log in with the password from VB. However, if i used the drupal password retrieval and made a new one, then I could log in w/o problems.
I'll be converted another site over to drupal soon, so I can do some more testing for you.
