When I download the gz file (any of them), they cannot be unzipped. Is anyone else having the same issue? It's like the files were not zipped properly. Very strange.

The files extract fine for me. Try downloading from another computer, preferably on another network. What OS are you using?

Same for me, cannot open gz file...I have VISTA, service pack 1; is a special driver needed?

There's really nothing I can offer you. Try downloading the file from a different network, or if using a proxy change your proxy. There's nothing I can do to help you.
